Trip directly to Volcanoes National Park after arriving in Kigali. It’s a beautiful three-hour trip north through the verdant, green landscape. With a stunning row of volcanoes stretching far into the distance, Volcanoes National Park has an amazing panorama.

Choose a hotel to stay at. Relax and get ready for the gorilla tracking the next morning throughout the evening.

The journey from Kigali to Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda, bordering Tanzania, takes around four to five hours on tarmacked roads. The 100,000-hectare park, managed by African Parks in partnership with the RDB since 2010, features scenic savannah and has undergone significant transformation in the last eight years. Poaching has been eliminated, and wildlife is now thriving. In 2015, African Parks reintroduced lions and black rhinoceros, and in 2017, hippos and various bird species were reintroduced. The night is spent at a hotel in the park.

Get to Kigali as early as possible. Travel four or five hours by car from Kigali to Akagera National Park. Up until the last move around, the entire trip is on properly maintained, smooth roads.

Since 2010, African Parks has collaborated with the to oversee the 100,000-hectare Akagera National Park, which is located in eastern Rwanda and borders Tanzania. It includes broad plains, woods, lakes, wetland areas and grassy low mountains, making it some of the most beautiful savannah in all of East Africa. In the past eight years, Akagera has experienced a remarkable evolution, with trafficking practically eradicated and wildlife now flourishing. In 2015, African Parks brought back lions and black rhinoceroses, which had been absent for 20 years.
